A shrinking project, broken promises and spiralling delays – Labour’s mishandling of the leisure centre is letting our town down.
Despite repeated promises, Labour-run Rushmoor Council has once again pushed back the delivery of the new Farnborough Leisure Centre – and it now includes fewer facilities than ever. Labour has refused to consult residents while slashing key amenities and alienating potential operators.
Gone are the cultural facilities, sports courts and expanded library space once promised. Now, even the “Minerva Suite” – designed to support older and disabled residents – has been axed. What’s left? A heavily subsidised gym and a small pool, unlikely to offer value for money or meet community needs.
Conservatives had a fully costed plan ready for delivery over a year ago. Labour’s alternative? Delay, decline, and diminished ambition.
