Today's Full Council meeting saw the Conservatives lead calls for the Government to fully compensate Rushmoor for the costs involved in the botched Local Government Reorganisation and the officer time diverted from other resident priorities.
Cllr Steve Harden pointed out how residents had never supported the move to Mega Councils and should not have to pick up the bill for the Government's failed initiative.
Cllr Ade Adeola highlighted how other initiatives which has been proposed by councillors had been rejected or delayed as a result whilst Cllr Gareth Lyon drew attention to the fact that Conservatives had warned consistently about the problems with the scheme and how the Council's savings programme had been derailed as officers had to spend time on the ill thought out plans.
Reform and Labour councillors ultimately supported the calls. The Liberal Democrat councillors did not.
