Union Yard Disappointment: Labour Rejects Local Shops and Community Vision

Labour backtracks on town centre revival as local businesses are frozen out of Aldershot’s regeneration.

Union Yard, once the flagship of Aldershot’s regeneration under the Conservatives, is now a shadow of what was promised. Despite finally opening after months of Labour delay, key local businesses have been refused space, and the vision for a high-quality, community-focused hub has been quietly abandoned.

Rather than boosting local enterprise, Labour’s approach risks turning Union Yard into a bland collection of chain outlets. Their failure to deliver on the Conservative blueprint for shops, housing and civic pride is a missed opportunity for Aldershot – and local residents will feel the consequences.
